| Harley alone and missing her Puddin'! From the "Mad Love" series: [link] |
Well, it's been a week or so since I last updated - I've been sooooooooo busy!
And there hasn't been much to update on in regards cosplay - though I'll be organising a few shoots over the coming months.
My "Clown Burlesque" show went better than I could ever dream. Normally I feel pretty insecure and self-critical about my shows even despite the positive feedback I get, always reticent to say it went TOO well, but this one... oh wow... it went amazingly. Every single gag went off without a hitch, I was in time and on point... I think some of my dance moves could've been a little cuter and prettier and refined but I'm hoping against hope I get to do this show more than once... and I can keep on refining it. I'm pretty damn pleased with how it went. Glitta Supanova, burlesque performer extraordinaire, commented to me earlier this week that, amongst thinking it was a great show, all my dance moves were very clean and finished. That was wonderful to hear!
And the audience... wow... freaking loved it. I couldn't believe the ROAR of cheers at the end. They laughed and cheered at all the gags, hooted and hollered and whistled all the way through and I think this seriously has been my most successful and best-received show yet... I am proud to say I always get a large audience reaction but this one really took the cake. Which was the idea!
And people just kept coming up to me over and over afterwards to say how amazing it was, how much they loved it, how it brought the house down, how it was funny AND sexy and cute and... yeah... WOW... serious overdose of love... and I'm so grateful I got to share that show with such a wonderful audience and that I did a good enough job to please them and that they were generous enough to enjoy it and thank you to every single soul who came up to me to share their thoughts afterwards... it means so much to hear it!!!
YAY!
I'll be getting the photos soon and I'm trying to wrangle up some footage. The only problem is I do full nudity and I'm pretty sure that's not allowed on youtube, so I'll have to figure something out.
In addition to this, I did a "Batman and Robin" Burlesque show at our local Hellfire (BDSM crowd) Club on Friday. The story behind it, suitable for a kinky crowd, was Robin deliberately letting himself get caught by villains because he's a masochist. It's hard to describe and I don't feel like it right now, but there will be photos and maybe even footage of it soon enough.
I used the Bonnie Tyler track "I Need A Hero" as part of the music and Hexy just made me laugh hard by posting a facebook status update saying the song has been stuck in her head all weekend as a consequence - that's one of my very favourite songs and I listen to it almost daily (I'm not kidding) so in my humble opinion, it should be in EVERYONE'S head on a regular basis! XD
It seemed to go over well - I was pretty tense about it, as I'd been so busy and didn't have a chance to do as many rehearsals as I would've preferred - but it got some good laughs and big cheers and afterwards many folks came up to say they loved it.
Some of Hexy's geek friends sent her text messages asking her to pass onto me that "the show was very hot and funny but just one question: which Robin was [I]?"
LOL! Only geeks.
And I had another show last night which was more just a traditional strip tease with a kinky twist at a local queer event 'Save the Butch' done in appreciation of Butches (and being Femme, this is kinda important to me! XD). It was a very simple and even mellow show in comparison to what I usually do, but again seemed to go over very well. In fact, a lot of people commented to me that it was a very sexy show. Usually I always have a healthy dose of humour in my shows - I'm too much of a walking, talking parody of hyper-feminity to play things totally straight sexy = and this one had a touch or two, but was largely played very straight. So it was interesting to have the comments with the emphasis on the sexual appeal. And afterwards, Fancy Piece - a local circus-burlesque queer duo who are very accomplished and fabulous - gave me some very lavish compliments about how much they love what I am doing and that my shows are always really well-timed and fabulously structured and that it was a pleasure to see. They even said they stuck around after their show just to see mine!! I was thrilled and honoured beyond belief. Maybe there is even a collaborative possibility, it sort of came up... that'd be wonderful!
Of course, in addition to all that excitement, my longtime JokerxHarley friend, Joanna, was in town so I was going nuts showing her the various intricacies of 'my life' and Sydney, my local scenes and where I hang out and such. It was killer fun and great to spend time with her, catching up on all the intervening years, reminescening over our old fandom days and getting to know each other through all the changes we've been through. I loved it and had a wonderful week!
Sooo, cosplay stuff...
- Tomorrow I'm picking up my HQ leather shoes! ZOMG. I hope they're right... it took a few times with the shoemaker before I felt like he fully understood exactly the look I wanted and I haven't seen them since. Liliripes crossed!
Heh and I think that's about it for now! Holly is working on my outstanding costumes and I can't wait to see them! XD
There's more personal stuff, but I'm too lazy right now - another time!
